David Galler’s most recent position was as the Executive Lead in the development of Te Mauri O Rongo, The NZ Health Charter.
David was an Intensive Care Specialist, working at Middlemore Hospital in South Auckland from 1990-2021

He was Vice President and President of Salaried Medical Specialists and for 7 years, the Principal Medical Advisor to the Minister of Health and Director General of Health.
He took a lead role in establishing both the Quality Improvement Committee and Health Quality and Safety Commission and was on the Board of the Commission for 6 years.
In 2016, as a volunteer in Samoa he established an intensive care service to improve care of infants children and younger patients with acute reversible disease and established a highly successful Telehealth network to support teach and supervise medical staff in Samoa.
He was a cofounder of the Counties Manukau Health Environmental Sustainability Board
His memoir, Things That Matter is published by Allen and Unwin and the subject of a play commissioned by the Auckland Theatre Company.
