Dr. Leopoldo “Lee” Cancio, MD, FABA, as President of the American Burn Association. A retired U.S. Army Colonel with a 27-year military career, Dr. Cancio has deployed to conflict zones and disaster sites around the world, and currently serves as Director of the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research Burn Center in San Antonio, Texas. A devoted student of burn medicine’s founding pioneers, he brings decades of clinical, research, and leadership experience to the role.
