Professor Tina Palmieri, MD, FACS, MAS, MCCM is Full Professor of Surgery, Burn Division Chief, and Vice Chair for Clinical Trials Research at the University of California Davis as well as Chief of Burns at Shriners Children’s Northern California. She trained at Northwestern University (medicine), the University of Iowa (surgery), and the University of Missouri (critical care/burns) before service at Keesler Air Force Base. As President of the American Burn Association, she spearheaded disaster preparedness, multicenter trials, and collaborative burn treatment. She is the Director of the UC Davis Burn Data Coordinating Center, leading multicenter randomized trials in blood transfusion, outcomes, and critical care nationally and internationally. Dr. Palmieri led the development of the second set of international burn care guidelines by the International Society of Burn Injury. Her research focuses on uniting diverse teams of stakeholders to translate science into optimal clinical care. Dr. Palmieri provides surgical services and critical care to adults and children with severe burn injury.
