Carl Horsley

Biography

Carl is a dual trained Intensivist who is the current Clinical Head of the Critical Care Complex (CCC) at Middlemore Hospital, Auckland. He is currently interested in the implications of a new view of safety that is more grounded in the realities of everyday clinical work. This approach sees people as the key resource required to deal with the complexity of modern healthcare. Carl is interested in how to enhance the resilience of healthcare systems, in particular, in how improving team function and psychological safety can play a key role in improving outcomes for both patients and staff.
