Abstract:
Background:

Global increase in the use of electronic cigarettes and other electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) raises the issues of standards surrounding health. The injuries associated with burn explosions can occur spontaneously or during vaping resulting in serious bodily burns.

Method:

A comprehensive review of the medical literature since its conception shows many case series and reports on the use of e cigarettes with its variation in burn pattern, thickness and associated length of stay. The growing literature worldwide highlights the variation and risks associated with the youth population.

Conclusion:

E-cigarettes are a public safety concern raising concern for increased regulation as well as design changes to improve safety for users.
