Thank you for attending ANZBA 2019
Thank you for attending the 43rd Annual Scientific meeting (ASM) of the Australian and New Zealand Burns Association (ANZBA) which was held in Hobart from the 15th– 18th October 2019. The meeting was held at the Hobart Grand Chancellor, nestled on the shores of Sullivans Cove, will be home to hundreds of guests learning about the most recent advances in burn care from world renowned clinicians, researchers and educators. The theme for this meeting was “Burns Across the Ages”.
The Tasmanian Burns Unit was formed 50 years ago after the catastrophic 1967 bushfires when 62 people lost their lives, 900 were injured and 3000 buildings were razed. There are a number of themes common to Tasmania which is also relevant across Australia and New Zealand and the international burns community: obesity and bariatric care; burns care from either end of the age spectrum- the very young and the very old; disaster management; itch and pain; palliative care and neck and axilla burns. Burns care into the future and the importance of trauma communication will also be explored throughout the meeting.
We hope you enjoyed the meeting and look forward to seeing you in Perth, October 2020.
