The new paradigm in reconstructive burn surgery

Dr Andrea C. Issler-Fisher is a burn surgeon at Concord Hospital, who has focused on burn scar reconstruction with a particular interest in the use of lasers to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Her talk will cover the following aspects of this exciting arising area of burn surgery:

  • A general overview of the principles of laser surgery and how this can exploited to treat burn scars
  • The efficacy of laser treatments on burn scars: Updated results from a prospective cohort study
  • Concord’s protocols and experience and how this has resulted in a new overall burn scar management approach
